So often students will ask "Why do I need to know this?" Just look at the world around us and mathematics is everywhere. I love to travel and in my travels I photograph the awe inspiring use of mathematics. The photos below were taken during my trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Acres and Acres of Art
Some of the most fascinating examples of geometry in Michigan.
Basic geometric figure. Three dimensional and made of metal.
An abundance of optical illusions.
From one angle it looks like a man and from the other it looks like a woman.
This is titled "Listening to History". I am certain Mr. Roth would love it:)
Circumference, radius, diameter, proportion, ratio. . . I could go on and on.
This illustrates some wonderful geometry. It was at least 20 feet tall.
Simply art!
Use your imagination.
What do you see?
Unbeleivably realistic.
Curves and bricks, old and young, just a lot to think about here.
Thought you might enjoy the giant spider just because it is a giant spider:)
