Weeseworld discipline
A clipboard is used in my class to keep record of student behavior in the classroom as well as any other areas of the school. It is taken to monitor behavior in the hallways, during restroom breaks, and in the cafeteria. The offenses listed on the clipboard consist of behaviors that may cause a disruption or distraction in the classroom or while moving from one location to another. Each time the student is written down 3 times they move a step further through the team discipline process. With the clipboard the discipline sheet is changed each week and the count of inappropriate behaviors begins anew. The steps of the discipline process that the child has been through begin anew every nine-week period. The steps are as follows: Violation 1. Verbal Warnings– the student is told that their behavior has been recorded and that an improvement in their behavior is expected. (This is the only time that the parent is not officially notified, with hope that the student will accept the responsibility of improving the behavior.) Violation 2. Parent Contacts/In Class Detention – parents will be contacted a variety of ways, such as emails, phone calls, or on paper, making the parent aware of the misbehavior. Please speak with your child regarding the infractions. If parents have any questions I strongly suggest you get in touch so we may discuss the issues at hand. Violation 3. Parent Contact/ After School Detentions – the student must stay after school for detention either with a teacher from the team or grade level detention. At this time a parent conference will need to be scheduled. Violation 4. Team Time Out /Parent Contact - students spend the entire day with a class on another team or in the classroom all day with one teacher. Similar to In School Suspension but on a team level. They are given work to do for the day and must turn it in at the end of the day. Violation 5. Office Referral – an office referral is written stating that the student has been through the team discipline process and the administrator notifies the parents and assigns consequences. All offenses on the clipboard are considered Level One offenses. A list of these can be found in the Student Code of Conduct. The office referral is seen as a Level 2 offense in accordance to the Code of Conduct.
